A MacBook that suddenly stops charging causes panic — especially if the battery is already low. Often it is charger, cable, dirt in the port or software reset; sometimes a bad battery or logic board.
Quick test
Try original or branded USB-C charger with enough watt (30W+ for Air, 67W+ for Pro depending on model).
Test all USB-C ports — one bad port may exist while another works.
Check if charging symbol appears — if not, it is likely hardware or port.
SMC reset (Intel Mac)
Apple Silicon: shut down, wait 30 sec, start again — no separate SMC reset.
Intel MacBook: instructions vary by model — Apple Support 'SMC reset' for your Mac.
After reset: let charge 15 min without using the computer.
When you need the workshop
Charges only at certain angles — often loose port or worn cable.
Message about 'service recommended' for battery — plan replacement before port is damaged by wobble.
