Fix blue screen (BSOD) in Windows

A blue screen (BSOD) means Windows stopped to protect the system — usually driver, RAM or disk fault. A single BSOD after an update may be harmless; recurring crashes should be investigated before data or hardware is damaged.
Read the STOP code
Photograph the whole blue screen — especially text like DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION or KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.
IRQL/DRIVER almost always points to a driver (often GPU, WiFi or storage). DATA_INPAGE suggests disk or RAM.
If the PC reboots too fast: Settings → System → About → Advanced system settings → Startup and Recovery → uncheck Automatic restart.
Drivers — the most common cause
Update graphics driver from NVIDIA/AMD/Intel — or try an older version if the problem started after an update.
Temporarily uninstall third-party antivirus and test. Windows Defender is enough for most home users.
Run Windows Update and the motherboard manufacturer's chipset drivers.
Memory and disk
Run Windows Memory Diagnostic (search in Start) if you suspect RAM faults.
Open Command Prompt as admin: chkdsk C: /f (scheduled at reboot) for filesystem errors.
Clicking from the disk + BSOD — shut down and contact us for data recovery before more damage.
When System Restore pays off
If BSOD started after a specific update or program install: System Restore to a point before the problem.
Last resort without file loss: Repair Windows with installation media (Keep files). We guide via remote support or workshop.
