How to back up files in Windows
Av Verkstadsteamet på Datorhjälp Lerum, datorreparatörer & it-specialister · Uppdaterad

Most people lose data when a hard drive dies or ransomware encrypts files — not because backup is hard, but because they postpone it. A simple 3-2-1 strategy is enough for most homes and small businesses.
The 3-2-1 rule
3 copies of important data, 2 different media, 1 offsite (cloud or another location).
For private users OneDrive/Google Drive + external USB disk is often enough.
OneDrive and cloud
Enable backup of Desktop, Documents and Pictures in OneDrive settings.
Check sync is complete (green tick) before shutting down after large uploads.
External disk
Plug in USB disk weekly — Windows File History or manual copy.
Store the disk somewhere other than the PC (do not carry in the same bag every day).
Test restore: pull back a file and open it.
